Orca Rising (Turning Tides)
2020
Watercolor and salt on paper
11 x 15 in
27.9 x 38.1 cm
Orcas are extraordinary creatures. They’re the largest marine mammal in the dolphin family, their pods are matriarchal, and they are among the most intelligent animal species (alongside elephants, apes, and oh yeah, humans.)
This work won first prize in the IMMP x Klean Kanteen Orca Art Challenge (Youth category). We are donating 100% of this sale to the organization that held the contest, the International Marine Mammal Project so they can continue the important work they do protecting orcas and other marine mammals.
p.s. And yes, Aria Luna did incorporate real salt in the painting… it is the sea, after all…!
This work is available for sale. 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to the International Marine Mammal Project.

Jelly of the Mediterranean
2020
Acrylic on canvas board
8 x 10 in
20.1 x 25 cm
For Aria Luna, the point of art is to reimagine what is real. She rarely looks at reference images… she simply paints what is in her heart and her mind. This jelly may not exist in this precise form anywhere in the world, but it embodies the ephemeral beauty of the translucent bodies pulsing through our oceans, everywhere, at this very moment.
This work has been sold to a private collector, but we have beautiful fine art prints available.
