ART IN QUARANTINE

Like all artists right now, Aria Luna’s creativity is winding its curious nose through all the nooks and crannies of possibility. Ideas and inspiration that would have never popped up if the pandemic never happened. This is not to say the coronavirus is great. it’s most definitely not. What this does say is that the human spirit remains indomitable, spiked balls of RNA be damned.

Aria’s chalk-art dragon scavenger hunt in a commercial parking lot near her house piqued the interest of many a passer-by. One dad even asked her to draw a chalk dragon for his young daughter in front of their townhouse.

Another child discovered Aria’s chalk doodles in the parking lot and began improvising on her theme. She responded to Aria’s invitation to bring chalk (first slide) and wrote a message in return. The next day, Aria saw the note, replied, and that set off a chain reaction of messages that resulted in the two girls meeting for an impromptu play date to cover a few more parking spaces in chalk loveliness. All while six feet apart of course.
