Dragons

Portfolio

Aria Luna’s greatest wish is to have a real live dragon that she can train and fly to school on. Her parents are still looking for the perfect one. Till then, we’ll have to make do with dragon movies—and Aria’s dragons. Come see them all! We have red dragons, blue dragons, silver, green, and polka-dotted dragons… even a mythical sea dragon.

Fynn the Sea Dragon

2018
Watercolor, ink, and oil pastels on mixed-media paper
17.5 x 20.75 in
44.4 x 52.7 cm

Fynn is one of the sea protectors in Fusion Tide, Aria Luna’s traveling exhibit that tells the story of Bogo Mogo the plastic monster ravaging our seas. Fynn is the most traveled of all the characters… he’s been to Washington DC, New York, and California, and might visit Europe next.

Soloar

2017
Charcoal and pastels on mixed-media paper
31.5 x 42 in
80 x 106.7 cm

This is Soloar, the fire-breathing dragon attacking mama dragon Celseous and her egg in Aria Luna’s Dragonstorm exhibit.

Celseous

2017
Charcoal, pastels, and mixed media on gesso and mixed-media paper
20 x 41 in
50.8 x 104.1 cm

Celseous is a fierce mama dragon protecting her egg from the fearsome Soloar. Like any mama whose baby is under threat, she’s on fire and she’s not stepping down.

The Phoenix

2017
Charcoal, pastels, and mixed media on mixed-media paper
21 x 38.5 in
53.3 x 97.8 cm

Hearing Celseous’ shrieks, the Phoenix swoops in to help shield her from Soloar.

Check out the other characters in Aria Luna’s Dragonstorm exhibit.

Colossus

2019
Acrylic on linen
30.75 x 32.5 in
78.1 x 82.6 cm

Aria Luna created this colossal blue dragon during a summer art camp.

Dragon of Red

2019
Charcoal and pastels on paper
12 x 9 in
30.5 x 22.9 cm

There’s something about the way this dragon looks right through you…

Gold Blaze

2019
Color pencil on paper
8.5 x 11 in
21.6 x 27.9 cm

Doodling with a classmate, Aria Luna created this “evil” dragon with “too much power.”

He does look pretty scary.

Puppet Dragon

2018
Watercolor on paper
15 x 6 in
38.1 x 15.2 cm

A character in a story Aria Luna worked on during a winter art camp.

Green Dragon

2018
Markers on paper
8.5 x 11 in
21.6 x 27.9 cm

Aria Luna spent a fair amount of time creating not just a slew of dragons, but all of their characteristics, powers, and meta data. She went so far as to create a dragon club at school, and a dragon game her classmates played. This is a great example of the game creator’s mind at work.

The Void Dragon

2018
Pen on paper
8.5 x 11 in
21.6 x 27.9 cm

Aria no longer cares for this dragon but we still think the style is unique and unusual. Would be nice to have him finished and yet, somehow, you barely notice he’s not…

Wither

2018
Charcoal pencil on paper
8.5 x 11 in
21.6 x 27.9 cm

Dragon of the Rocks

2019
Pen on paper
10 x 7 in
25.4 x 17.8 cm

Beautiful little dragon tucked away in the corner of a new drawing pad Aria Luna received for Christmas.

He’s the last dragon of 2019, and quite possibly the last for a while… Aria Luna has been drawing dragons for 2 years and she says she’s taking a break.

Silver Dragon

2018
Ink and metallic pen on paper
Color pencil on paper
8.5 x 11 in
21.6 x 27.9 cm

Running Dragon

2019
Pencil on paper
8.5 x 11 in
21.6 x 27.9 cm

Not all dragons have wings. Especially running dragons.

Watch out Usain Bolt, this dragon’s hot on your heels!

Dragon of the Night

2019
Sharpie on paper
8.5 x 11 in
21.6 x 27.9 cm

Polka Dot Dragon

2017
Pen, marker and color pencil on paper
10 x 8 in
25.4 x 20.3 cm

One of Aria’s early dragons, and the most fashion-conscious of them all.

This was during her hybrid animal phase—some of that clearly rubbed off on this dragon.
